TO Starts Tearing the Bills Apart and Rodney Harrison Won’t Stand For It
USA Today – If Terrell Owens was unhappy that his streak of 185 consecutive games with a catch ended on Sunday, he kept his anger in check. A little. Owens gave short and dismissive answers to reporters after the Bills lost 27-7 to New Orleans, the first game in which he didn’t have a
reception since his rookie year in 1996. After the game, he did not criticize his teammates or coaches, but his discontent was evident. “I’m just going with the plays that are called,” Owens said. NBC analyst Tony Dungy, the former Colts coach, acknowledged on the network that Owens’ unhappiness could become an issue. “That’s hard to coach,” Dungy said. Fellow NBC analyst Rodney Harrison went further, however, and reiterated that he thinks Owens is “a clown.” “He’s more concerned with his own stats than the team’s success,” Harrison said. Owens responded on Twitter by rebuking and taunting Harrison about the former Patriots safety’s suspension in 2007 for violating the performance-enhancing substances policy. From Owens’ Twitter account:
“I could less about Rodney Harrison! Anybody tht using steroids, yes STEROIDS rodney, is a cheater & cheated the game! … Is tht Y u used steroids b/c u were worried about ur stats or ws it b/c u were losing it? Lol! U’re a loser & a cheater? Got any steroid … Hey rodney! Send me sum steroids 2 the Bills facility next week!”
And so it begins. The opening salvos in TO’s disgruntledosity in Buffalo. Veteran TO observers like Rodney Harrison know this is just the preamble. It’s the Fort Sumpter in the war that will tear the Bills apart. The first raindrop of Hurricane Terrell that will level Buffalo, all the talk of TO being a matured, changed man and the key to the city they gave him be damned. Next he’ll be calling out Alex Van Pelt by name, questioning Edwards’ sexual orientation and before you know it he’ll be suspended by the team, doing pushups in his driveway surrounded by news cameras and OD’ing on prescription anti-depressants.
But a true pro like Rodney isn’t about to sit there and suffer an idiot like TO quietly. He fought too hard for too long, always put the team first and a douche like TO is an affront to everything a guy like him stands for. We’re three weeks into Harrison’s broadcast career and he’s already proven he’s more interesting, provocative and has more integrity than anyone else in the business. So what’s a selfish imbecile like Owens do when he gets called out like this? Predictably say “I know you are but what am I” and talk about steroids. Then he’ll go back to tearing his team apart from within like he always has. Thank God and NBC this time we’ll have Harrison around to tear him a new ass while he does. Getcha popcorn ready.
T/O is a tool and ruins teams, but at least he has a sense of humor. Rodney Harrison is a douche bag and takes stuff way too seriously, even when another tool like freddie mitchell is joking around. if the pats were so above the rest of the league like you guys make them seem, then he wouldnt need to even respond to someone like freddie mitchell. and how does someone who broke the league’s drug rules have more integrity than anyone else?
Rodney Harrison needs to shut the fuck up and start acting like a broadcaster….i thought TO handled the journalists questions pretty good considering they were antagonizing the shit out of him until they got a controversial answer
I’m amazed that there is someone out there who things that TO has a sense of humor. So you’re the one who watches TO’s show.
The whole HGH thing is a horrible point anyways. Besides Harrison and his holyness Andy Pettitte, I can’t think of many people who owned up to their mistake, so let’s stop beating a dead horse here.
What Rodney is saying isn’t any different from what 99% of the world already thinks, so it’s not too controversial if you ask me.
There’s a reason why reporters antagonize TO – he’s a petulant child and eventually will be goaded into saying something stupid.
I cant believe it took till week 3
I give T.O. props for this.He knew the reporters were goading him into an outburst or a shot at the QB or coaches and he stood his ground. He finally kept his big mouth shut.
As for Harrison, AGAIN, crazy enough, I’ll say point goes to T.O.. I think T.O. won that little battle. You take steroids, be careful when you judge a guy with NATURAL talent.
Dain,
I’ve got to disagree with you on this point: TO wasn’t keeping his mouth shut. He was doing one of his patented “Read between the lines” things that always precede his petulant little outbursts. The implication of that is “I’m supremely talented and AVP is stupid for not taking advantage of my awesomeness.” The high road here isn’t “We just running the plays that are called,” which is meant to imply that the game plan sucks. It’s “We all need to do a better job” which Patriots like Harrison have elevated to an art form.
Pennington’s done. Cue the… nevermind.
Harrison has talked more shit from the set than TO has on the field this season…..although i suspect that NBC is encouraging him to do so to cover up the fact their pre-game show is literally unwatchable
TO pretty clearly won this one. He may have been doing the read between the lines thing but Roidney was being an all over the lines asshole.
T.O. didn’t do anything stupid or anything that is going to “destroy” the bills. Your an idiot for thinking that, rodney harrison is the one T.O. destroyed, i use to think twitter was stupid but clearly when they use it to speak their mind and bash on other players its the coolest thing ever. Rodney Harrison is a cheater who did do steroids, like how does anyone think anything he says is credible, he’s just an older shawne merriman.
haha t.o. destroyed rodney through twitter???…he looked like a fuckin dumbass illiterate…learn how to spell and put sentences together before you bash someone in writing…and how come its always the fans of losing fuckin teams that bring up steroids…every team in every sport has players that use steroids…stop hiding behind that
This just in TO just put a savage burn on Harrison via his pimped out Myspace page. LOL
Maybe Rodney ‘cheap-shot’ can get into the Bills locker room and cut-block T.O. when he’s not looking. . . not that would make good TV.
“We’re three weeks into Harrison’s broadcast career and he’s already proven he’s more interesting, provocative and has more integrity than anyone else in the business”
wait rodney harrison right? known as one of the dirtiest players in the league? have you watched his broadcatsing skills (btw anyone else find it uncorfortable to see him sitting next to Tony Dungy anyway)
rodney harrison is the next Tiki Barber in the booth – just cuz you played doesnt mean we care to hear you speak -shut the fuck up; tough to ever defend TO but his non-answer was the best move in the press conference.
“Besides Harrison and his holyness Andy Pettitte, I can’t think of many people who owned up to their mistake, so let’s stop beating a dead horse here”
Owning up does not = coming clean after you have been outed by MLB/NFL.
HGH is not steroids, TO can’t do anything right
