USA TodayIf Terrell Owens was unhappy that his streak of 185 consecutive games with a catch ended on Sunday, he kept his anger in check. A little. Owens gave short and dismissive answers to reporters after the Bills lost 27-7 to New Orleans, the first game in which he didn’t have a reception since his rookie year in 1996. After the game, he did not criticize his teammates or coaches, but his discontent was evident. “I’m just going with the plays that are called,” Owens said. NBC analyst Tony Dungy, the former Colts coach, acknowledged on the network that Owens’ unhappiness could become an issue. “That’s hard to coach,” Dungy said. Fellow NBC analyst Rodney Harrison went further, however, and reiterated that he thinks Owens is “a clown.” “He’s more concerned with his own stats than the team’s success,” Harrison said. Owens responded on Twitter by rebuking and taunting Harrison about the former Patriots safety’s suspension in 2007 for violating the performance-enhancing substances policy. From Owens’ Twitter account:

“I could less about Rodney Harrison! Anybody tht using steroids, yes STEROIDS rodney, is a cheater & cheated the game! … Is tht Y u used steroids b/c u were worried about ur stats or ws it b/c u were losing it? Lol! U’re a loser & a cheater? Got any steroid … Hey rodney! Send me sum steroids 2 the Bills facility next week!”

And so it begins. The opening salvos in TO’s disgruntledosity in Buffalo.  Veteran TO observers like Rodney Harrison know this is just the preamble. It’s the Fort Sumpter in the war that will tear the Bills apart. The first raindrop of Hurricane Terrell that will level Buffalo, all the talk of TO being a matured, changed man and the key to the city they gave him be damned. Next he’ll be calling out Alex Van Pelt by name, questioning Edwards’ sexual orientation and before you know it he’ll be suspended by the team, doing pushups in his driveway surrounded by news cameras and OD’ing on prescription anti-depressants.

But a true pro like Rodney isn’t about to sit there and suffer an idiot like TO quietly.  He fought too hard for too long, always put the team first and a douche like TO is an affront to everything a guy like him stands for.  We’re three weeks into Harrison’s broadcast career and he’s already proven he’s more interesting, provocative and has more integrity than anyone else in the business.  So what’s a selfish imbecile like Owens do when he gets called out like this?  Predictably say “I know you are but what am I” and talk about steroids.  Then he’ll go back to tearing his team apart from within like he always has.  Thank God and NBC this time we’ll have  Harrison around to tear him a new ass while he does.   Getcha popcorn ready.
