UMass Administration Just Doing The Damn Thing Per Usual….Towing Over 200 Cars From A Lot That Kids Paid To Park In
Hundreds of students’ cars towed at UMass
AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Unexpected and unwelcome developments on Move-in Day for Hundreds of UMass students’ this Labor Day. They woke up to find their cars had been towed, even though they’d been told they could park in the lot. There are a lot of fees associated with getting situated at college– and for UMass students who’d like to keep their cars on campus, one of those fees is a 300 dollar parking permit. Almost 200 students who paid that parking permit fee parked right here in lot 44 Sunday night. But when they came back Monday morning their cars weren’t where they left them. The cars had been towed to Ernie’s Towing in Amherst. Students had to find a way to get there, and then wait in line for hours before coughing up more than a hundred bucks in cash. “The volunteers that were there they were telling everyone you can park here. I paid almost 300 dollars for a parking pass and now I’ve got to pay a hundred dollars for the tow,” Sherman said. Word of the mass-tow spread around some of the dorms, and other students couldn’t believe just how many cars got taken away. “I would just be furious. Considering parking services isn’t even open yet. It’s not going to be open until tomorrow. I can’t believe they would actually tow any cars before giving people a chance to get a parking pass. It’s just too early. It seems ridiculous,” said sophomore Brian Partridge.
Does any administration in the country treat their students with more disdain than Umass? If they aren’t bringing in the gestapo to break up parties they are just towing away hundreds of cars on move in day even though they paid for parking. How did this happen you ask? Well the geniuses running Umass didn’t have the foresight to open the parking services office the same day students moved in. Hence students couldn’t get the physical passes to put on their cars even though they paid for them. Incompetence at it’s finest. That’s the beauty of working for a state run school with no accountability to anybody. You can be a moron and do whatever you want and nobody says boo…

Last time i checked Umass is a state school that is assisted by tax payer money, so in fact if the students are getting re-imbursed I and the rest of the tax payers in the state will be paying “fucking Ernie” for State employees fucking up……Ya that sounds about right!! Go deval!

Still trying to understand the logistics of towing and storing 200 cars in a 4 hour window that most of those kids were asleep. Did a fleet of 20 trucks coast in undetected with their lights off? The whole thing sounds strangely weird, and implausible.
If the rumors are true I think Ernie is married to the head of UMass Parking Services. No joke. UMass is a lot of things but the finest at causing unmitigated rage over parking it is #1 in the country.
