Victoria’s Secret Has To Apologize Because One Of The Models Wore A Headdress
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Victoria’s Secret has apologized for putting a Native American-style headdress on a model for its annual fashion show, after the outfit was criticized as a display of ignorance toward tribal culture and history. The company responded to the complaints over the weekend by saying it was sorry to have upset anyone and that it wouldn’t include the outfit in the show’s television broadcast next month, or in any marketing materials.
What is the deal with indians? First they got mad about No Doubt video last week and now this? Ummm you guys lost. You don’t get to call the shots anymore. Can’t get your ass kicked on the playground and complain when the bully celebrates. That’s part of winning. I mean I think indians got a pretty good deal. Yeah they lost an entire country because they were too kind and white people are greedy pieces of shit but on the other hand they did get casinos. And a new name: indians is so much cooler than Native Americans. So I think they should probably just pipe down. If No Doubt wants to make a music video while knocking over Mohegan Sun, Ocean’s 13 style then they get to do it. If Victoria’s Secret wants to pop on a headdress and rain dance all over the runway then that’s fine. Those are the spoils of victory. Quit your whining or we’ll send an order of special new blankets down to the Wompom reservation.

So I just looked it up. “Native” (of course) means being born in a particular place. “Native American” has nothing to do with being born in America. Nope. To be “Native American” you need to be related to people who were here when Columbus sailed 520 years ago. And most of my ancestors were born in Ireland, but I’ve never been within 3000 miles of Ireland. So I guess I’m a man without a country.
