We’re A Measuring Stick For the Colts…Not Vice Versa

I got to admit that unlike Jerry I’m sick and tired of all this Pats vs. Colts talk. It’s infuriating to me. Like I keep hearing people say how the Colts are a measuring stick for us. Huh? Since when did the Colts become a measuring stick for the Pats? We’re a measuring stick for them.  I don’t even think the Colts are that good. Sure they’re undefeated but they’ve played a miserable schedule and struggled with it. I mean nobody really thinks Indy would beat the Steelers or Chargers in the playoffs right now do they? No fucking way. They got to beat us just to prove they belong. Everybody already knows we belong. We’re the fucking Patriots.

I guess what I’m saying is I just don’t know why people continue to put Tom Brady and the Pats in the same breath as Peyton Manning and the Colts. We got 3 rings this century and 4 superbowl appearances. They got one. And the only reason they even have that is because we beat the Chargers for them.   Basically did their dirty work.   Kind of like the Ravens last year against the Titans or the Broncos vs. us the first year Pitt won it.   Because let’s not kid ourselves, we had absolutely no business beating SD that year. The Chargers beat us 90 out of 100 times and they beat Indy 100 out of 100 times. But somehow we managed to sneak out of there with a win despite being totally and completely outplayed. It allowed Peyton to sneak in the back door and win a championship as we flat out ran out of gas vs. them the following week.   But really we weren’t that good to begin with.    At least not for us.    The point is Indy is always the same. They are always going to have good record. The media is always going to hype them up, but they are never the team you got to beat to win a championship and it’s no different this year. So win lose or draw this week it’s not going to change how I feel about the Pats chances this year.   It’s still way to early to tell what we’re dealing with.

How about a “Meep the Yankees” tee shirt with that muppet wearing a sox lid. Or even Meep the Mannings with them giving the eiffel tower to their dad or something

How to live in past EP…..Pats season ticket holder who is going out to to game…..Fact is, they have beaten us 4 out of 5 and as much as I enjoy 6-2, If Bills KR isn’t a moron and Ravens WR holds onto pass, we could be looking at 4-4…..Will Pats win and make weekend a Boston Massacre (Celtics play Pacers Sat night)?…Hell, yeah, but fact is, currently we are trying to get back to top and they were there more recently (losing SB doesn’t count) and they didn’t miss playoffs last year..

right now you sound like Yankees fan before they won this year….

the only year peyton beat the pats in the playoffs is when brady was throwing to a wideout core that would all be out of football within the next few years and the pats had eric alexander (an undrafted f.a.) in man coverage on te’s because of all the injuries.

and despite all that, the pats dropped 30 something and got edged out by a late manning drive. the colts are maybe the 4th or 5th best team in the afc this year. pats should handle them much like the atlanta game, not a blowout but completely in control from start to finish.

coach still a moron…good to see.

I think just about every single Pats fan had the exact same reaction during the 4th quarter of that Colts playoff game:

WHO THE FUCK IS ERIC ALEXANDER?

It’s fascinating to me that Boston fans used to love to tell Yankee fans to stop living in the past

And now Pats fans are gloating about Super Bowl Championships when they haven’t won one in 5 years

Fascinating

I love non pats fans interpretation of this blog. I have no idea how good the Pats are this year. But the Colts aren’t the team that tells you how good you are. Never have been never will be. They aren’t a measuring stick. That’s the point morons.

And regardless of what you say we still won the AFC last time Brady was healthy. And last year I think we would have won the superbowl if we got in

That’s what your supposed think you homer…..and thanks for missing my point….next time I’ll use smaller words and gambling terms—-oh damn, then you wouldn’t have a clue…..

Pats = team of decade
Colts = team of more recent success

and, last time I checked, injuries are part of the game, and as much as I follow the Word of Bill, he buys the groceries and we haven’t won a SB since 2004—-been in the mix and that’s all you can ask.

When I was in Indy for AFC Championship in 07, I thought it was sad that they had flags for wild-card, AFC South, etc—well, our 16-0 flag and claiming AFC championship in 2008 counts as much as a Super Bowl victory is just as sad…..

and last time I checked, oh brilliant one, Pats didn’t get last year, so doesn’t matter how far they went in your fantasy world

That Big Ass Hot Dog to the left is a good measuring stick

amadeus, didn’t you embarrass yourself enough earlier today? there’s a difference between celebrating championships that occurred 50 years ago and celebrating ones recent enough that you actually attended the playoff games. why don’t you sit the next couple plays out?

The Pats have gotten beat in their two real road games this season and are pretty much guaranteed the 3rd or 4th seed if they don’t go on the road to beat Indy. Brady hasn’t exactly been dominant on the road in the playoffs so this is a pretty big game for them to win.

» Sixburgh said: { Nov 12, 2009 - 06:11:26 }

And the Steelers would have slaughtered last years team in the playoffs just like we slaughtered them in Gillette. 11-5 with a backup QB was very impressive but that defense was horrible.

» TonyTwotoes said: { Nov 12, 2009 - 06:11:49 }

How are Pats fans living in the past because they haven’t won a Super Bowl in 5 years? They’ve been to an AFC Championship game and a Super Bowl game since, and were 11-5 with a high school quarterback. I guess that’s just what comes with the territory when you win as much as the Pats. I get it guys, you want to knock the Pats off the top of the mountain.

» titto1210 said: { Nov 13, 2009 - 06:11:16 }

patriots havn’t won a superbowl in 5 years, but you already know that, the pain must be twice as painful though when you expect them to win every year and then they don’t for 5 years…

FUCK!!! Amadeus is still alive! Now I’m down real big on the day.

I totally agree with you on this one El Pres…everytime I look at the schedule each week the Colts are heavy favorites over some team who can’t wait til the seasons over…Brady is going to shit all over that hurt secondary and it’s gonna be great!!!
